Netherrealm Studios (NRS) revealed on it’s Twitch channel yesterday the final kombatant that will join the Mortal Kombat X roster come March 1. Having terrorized Ellen Ripley in the deep recesses of space for more than three decades in film, the Alien xenomorph now turns it’s attention to the cast of Mortal Kombat X.
Alien makes it’s debut alongside three other characters (Tri-borg, Leatherface, and Bo’Rai cho) next Tuesday with the release of Kombat Pack 2 and Mortal Kombat XL (MKXL). For those of you who haven’t dropped the cash on Mortal Kombat X yet, now is the perfect time. MKXL includes both Kombat Pack 1 and 2, plus all of the costume packs released up to this point. For anyone only looking to buy Kombat Pack 2 (like me!) you’ll only need to shell out $19.99 for the four extra characters.
The three variations available for Alien are: Acidic – using it’s acidic blood for stackable damage; Konjurer – summons alien facehuggers and drones; and Tarkatan – utilizing a similar style to series’ favorite Baraka. Konjurer appeals to me most of all based on his zoning potential but each variation looks very promising.
NRS also announced that the Mortal Kombat X Online Beta will wrap up this Sunday and the new net code will be ready to play alongside the launch of MKXL and Kombat Pack 2. Be sure to check out there Patch Notes stream later today to see what changes from the online beta will make it into the final release. Of specific interest to me are the command grabs which were changed in the beta to allow for finishing strings combo strings. Pretty big implications for characters like Kotal Kahn (Sun God) and Kano (Commando).
Thanks for reading and be sure to leave me a comment below letting me know what you think of Alien’s appearance in Mortal Kombat X and the release of MKXL!
